Being a non-profit arts agency, L/A Arts truly grasps the impact the economy has had on the arts: orchestra seasons have been cut short, theater and film production have been scaled down, casts reduced, Art in Education programs have been slashed or eliminated, art agencies and organizations have been forced to reduce staff or close. The list goes on and on. We feel it's time for a visual reminder to everyone that the arts are in need of support. With flagging government and corporate support for the arts, we felt an awareness bracelet in support of the many disciplines of the arts was desperately needed.

In addition to selling these bracelets to the general public, we are also making them available at wholesale prices to organizations such as cultural centers, galleries, art agencies, organizations, theater groups, orchestras, schools, etc .

Who we are

A community based local arts agency (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization), L/A Arts was established in 1973 with a mission to integrate the arts into the fabric of our community's everyday life. L/A Arts programs have included: family shows geared towards people of all ages with a ticket price to fit a family budget, a cabaret series with both international and locally known artists, an international film series held in partnership with Central Maine Community College, a nationally acclaimed arts-in-education program and teacher development workshops, a popular summer theatre program for youths, a series of free summer concerts, a highly regarded art exhibit and auction hosted by University of Southern Maine, Lewiston-Auburn College, facilitating artist residencies and various community building activities. L/A Arts also presents the visual arts in various community outlets including its very own Gallery 5, where juried artwork is displayed in themed exhibits and offered for sale.
Our newest venture, DownStage,is an intimate black box venue for musical and theater performances .
